"You can spend days in Udaipur ticking off famous sights. Or you can slow down and experience the city in a way that feels a little more personal. If you only have a short time, here are seven things we'd tell a friend not to miss."
1. Watch the city change at sunset
Find a viewpoint or rooftop and stay long enough to watch the light move across the lakes and old city.
2. Walk the old city without a plan
Put the map away for a while. Wander the lanes, notice the architecture and stop whenever something catches your attention.
3. Have a slow café afternoon
Pick a place with a view, order something you like and don't rush. Travel doesn't have to be productive.
"Udaipur is beautiful in photographs. It is even better when you stop trying to photograph everything."
4. Spend time around the lake
Go beyond taking one photograph. Sit by the water, walk along the ghats or simply watch the city from the edge.
5. Eat something local
Ask someone who lives here what you should try. A good food recommendation is often better than a generic 'top 10' list.
6. Do something outside the obvious tourist route
Explore a quieter neighbourhood, find a local experience or take a short trip outside the centre.
7. Leave one evening completely free
No reservations. No checklist. Just see where the night takes you. Some of your favourite memories might come from this one.
"Udaipur is beautiful in photographs. It is even better when you stop trying to photograph everything. Slow down, stay curious and give the city a chance to become your own."
